Ancient Poland
"In a Slavic view of the world, culture - not politics, and not economics - is the dynamic engine of history over time. And at the heart of "culture" is "cult":
George Veigel November 2011
In the 10th century of the common era, the powerful European Roman Empire (under German control), began to encroach upon Polish slavic tribes. Bowing to pressure from Germany and Rome, the first Polish king, accepted the Roman religion of the Empire - Christianity, in order to maintain the peace with the empire next door. Thus, a gradual rejection of the native (pagan) religion of the Polish Slavic people began. The price for self rule, was gradual integration of the Slavic people into the greater European Empire (then called the Holy Roman Empire). The original religion of the Polish Slavic people, is it's ancient and noble Slavic Native Faith. Several attempts have been made in recent years, to revive the memory of it's theology and rituals. A Native Polish Church has been formed. Whilst we may no longer accept a literal belief in the ancient slavic deities and myths, we can nonetheless strive to preserve 'ancient knowledge' and honour our ancestor's attempts to create a world-view, that made sense to the slavic mind in the vast cold lands of central Europe. Here at Ancient Poland, we try to help preserve the ancient wisdom traditions of Slavic Poland. This is not a religion website, but it does include information on a religion. We do not ask readers to join any religion (ancient or modern), but instead, we invite people, to search out their ancient culture, that has often been suppressed or ignored, as Poland adopted the Roman Catholic religion in order to secure it's king's political and economic empire.
